The Lens for and about travel companies

Travel companies, agents, travel consultants, all mean the same. They are there to provide a service for your travel plans. Book flights, hotels, car rental, arrange insurance etc. You can do it yourself, but it can be hard work and maybe you do not get the best offers. Typically travel companies make 5-15% from each booking, but often have better rates than you can get, going direct, so you still save.

One thing to check is the cancellation policy of the company , some will not let you change or cancel without paying the full cost of the booking.

Travel Agents

A travel agency is a retail business, that sells travel related products and services to customers, on behalf of suppliers, such as airlines, car rentals, cruise lines, hotels, railways, sightseeing tours and package holidays that combine several products. In addition to dealing with ordinary tourists, most travel agencies have a separate department devoted to making travel arrangements for business travelers and some travel agencies specialize in commercial and business travel only. There are also travel agencies that serve as general sales agents for foreign travel companies, allowing them to have offices in countries other than where their headquarters are located.

If you can travel, maybe you can help people a lot worst off than you?

Grameen Foundation uses microfinance and innovative technology to fight global poverty and bring opportunities to the world's poorest people. With tiny loans, financial services and technology, we help the poor, mostly women, start self-sustaining busines

We at Squidoo passionately believe in creating new ways to support good causes online. By making a donation to Grameen Foundation from this page, you are sending money directly to that organization, in whatever amount you want. We don't touch it. We don't even see it. The author of this page doesn't either. And if you made it this far, thanks for caring.

Definition of the word Travel

Travel is the change in location of people on a trip through the means of transport from one location to another. Travel is most commonly done for recreation (as part of tourism or to visit friends and family), for business or for commuting; but may be for numerous other reasons, such as migration, fleeing war, etc. Travel may occur by walking or human-powered mode, or through mechanical vehicles, either as private or public transport.

Travel may be local, regional, national or international. In some countries, non-local internal travel may require an internal passport, while international travel typically requires a passport and visa.

The word originates from the Middle English word travailen ("to toil"), which comes from the Old French word travailler ("travail"). A person who travels is called a traveler (U.S.) or traveller (UK).
